(AUSTIN) – Monica Marks of North Zulch was presented the TDCJ Employee Volunteer Award during the Governor’s 2022 Criminal Justice Volunteer Service Awards program today. The award was presented by Texas Board of Criminal Justice Chairman Patrick O’Daniel and TDCJ Executive Director Bryan Collier at a ceremony in Austin.

A number of Madisonville track athletes advanced to Regionals for their performances in the Area Meet in Madisonville last week. Those athletes/teams qualifying include Lindsie Smith (100 M Dash); Chantell Davis (Long Jump); Grayson Bennett (Pole Vault); Rayce Hudson (400 M Dash); Bre’Anda Moffett, Chantell Davis, Kayla Dickey and Lindsie Smith (4x100 and 4x200); Blessing Ngene, Rayce Hudson, Jeramiah Burns, Devin Wheaton and Lorenzo Johnson (4x100); Blessing Ngene, Ronnie Mosley, Jeramiah Burns, Devin Wheaton and Lorenzo Johnson (4x200); Clay Williams, Rayce Hudson, Jeramiah Burns, Devin Wheaton and Lorenzo Johnson (4x400). Additional charges have been filed against the three suspects taken into custody as a result of a shooting between apparent motorcycle gangs that took place at the Zip’n Gas Station on East Main Street in Madisonville April 2.

Not too many of us know people who have buildings named after them. Not too many towns can claim such a person grew up on their streets, attended their schools.
