Barbara Ann (Genzer) McVey; 76 years, 9 months, 22 days; of Madisonville; passed away on Wednesday; June 7, 2023 in College Station.

Barbara was born on August 16, 1946, in Bay City to Adolph Felix and Anita Maude (Maddox) Genzer. Barbara was a homemaker and worked side by side with her husband (Ray) in the dairy business for 18 years, in the hayfield, in the trucking business for 25 years, and finally retired from USPS as a rural route carrier in Midway.

Barbara moved to Madison County in the 1960’s where she met the love of her life, Ray McVey. They were married in 1962 and created a beautiful life together.

She loved working in her garden, raising animals, and raising children and was awarded Madison County Homemaker of The Year. Barbara was known for her hard work and her famous cooking skills. She was the best mother and grandmother that anyone could ask for and she was the only one who could keep Ray in line. Barbara loved being a mother and grandmother, but most of all, she loved being Ray’s wife. She and Ray had the definition of what a biblical marriage was supposed to be. Barbara took pride in the way she cared for her husband and Ray loved her for it.

She just loved being Ray’s wife and just being with him. Barbara’s favorite quote was “together is a wonderful place to be” and her marriage proved that everyday as they were married for 60 years. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Donnie Genzer. She is survived by her husband, Ray McVey; her children, Dave McVey and Sheila Morgan (Mike); her grandchildren, Chelsea Long (Jason), Quinton McVey (Erika), Dalton McVey (Cierra), Dillon Crocker, Cheyenne Mickulec (Mathew), and Kayme Black (Scott); her 9 great grandchildren; her siblings, Randy Genzer and Becky Genzer Wied (Monty); her sister-in-law, Doris Hejtmanek; her special friends and family members, Maudene and James Cole, Martha and Randy Campbell, and the Ina Williams family; and numerous other friends and relatives.

Serving as pallbearers are: Quinton McVey, Dalton McVey, Mathew Mickulec, Tim Douga, Cannon Gantz, and Jason Long.

Barbara was a role model and will remain in the hearts of her family forever.
