Betty Jean (Gafford) King, 89, of Madisonville, Texas, went to be with her Heavenly Father on July 13, 2023.

She was born on October 11, 1933, to Ancel and Lucy (Laird) Gafford in North Zulch, Texas.

Betty was a very devoted Christian who loved the Lord. She enjoyed crafting, bird-watching, and telling everyone

about the many blessings God had given her. Betty’s grandchildren held a very special place in her heart, and she truly loved being a grandmother.

Betty was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, William Augustas King, Jr.; granddaughter, Lisa Nichols; great-grandson, Vincent Smith; and sisters, Lela Maudeen Mason and Mary Beth Edmunds. Left to cherish her memory includes children, Vickie Burns (Johnny) of Conroe, Texas; DaWayne King (Rita) of Groveton, Texas, Billy King (Michelle) of Pinehurst, Texas; and Tracy Chachere (Mark) of Plantersville, Texas; grandchildren, Leslie, Kimberly, John, Jennifer, Darrell, Anthony, Timothy, Mark, Will, Aaron and Kevin; twelve great-grandchildren and one on the way; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

A funeral service for Betty will be at 10 A.M., Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas. Bro. Horace L. Deaton will officiate the service.

Burial will follow at Pine Valley Cemetery, New Waverly, Texas. A brief visitation will take place prior to the service at the funeral home Saturday from 9 A.M. to service time.
