Douglas Wayne Cain, 74, of Madisonville, Texas, passed away at his home of natural causes. He was preceded in death by his father, JT Cain and mother, Lucille Parker Palmer. He was also preceded in death by his uncle, Pete Parker and aunt, Phyllis Parker with whom he lived with from a very early age, farming cotton, peanuts, corn and raising cows while on the farm with them.

He is survived by his daughters, Mysty Cain Langford (husband, Allen) and Karen Cain Strope; granddaughters, Isabella and Trinity; grandson, Brodey; granddaughters, Jordan (husband Evan), Morgan (husband, Winston); great-grandsons, Gatlyn, Roy, and Will and cousins who were more like brothers and sisters, Gayle, Roy, Sarah, Barbara, Kay, and Jerry.

He also leaves behind his beloved four-legged babies, Cledus, Charley and Tabitha.

Douglas served in the Navy from December 1967 - January 1977. He served two years aboard the USS Ogden during Vietnam with a side stay on board the USS Okinawa in 1971 for the Apollo 15 Spacecraft Recovery Mission. Douglas spent time in Mississippi at Litton Industries/Ingalls Shipbuilding doing pre-commissioned detail building the USS Tarawa and was then stationed on it when it went out to sea.

After retiring from the Navy, he returned to his home place. He drove 18 wheelers for different companies and loved the trucker life. His fellow Navy brothers would often stop by for a visit which always brought him great joy.

With his communications background, he got into computer repair and had a DJ/Karaoke business. He loved entertaining, gardening and a good root beer float.

A memorial service for Douglas will be held 2 P.M., Thursday, January 19, 2022 at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas.
