Fred Arthur Henson was born in Denison, TX on July 21,1950, to Arthur and Barbara Henson and was called to his heavenly home on Monday; April 17, 2023, surrounded by his family. Fred was preceded in death by his father, The Honorable Judge Arthur Monroe ‘Art” Henson and is survived by his wife of 32 years, whom he hated to leave behind, Elizabeth “Liz” (Calfee) Henson; his children, Stefanie Erin Maslowski (Nick), Rebecca Carol Moutray (Chris), Rachel Ann Henson, and Justin McClain Henson (D'Lynn); his grandchildren, Erin McKinney, Kaylee McKinney, Jacob Hull, Colin Moutray, Cora Moutray, and Hardy Henson; his mother, Barbara 'Gigi” (Clark) Henson, his sister, Jeanne Marie (Henson) Thames (Buddy), his brother, David C.

Henson (Darlene); and numerous other family members and friends.

Fred graduated from Klein High School in 1968 where he had developed a deep love for cars, especially fast cars and racing, that would shape his life. He began his career in the automotive industry in the parts department at Ford Chevrolet in Tomball, TX and worked his way from sales to ownership, founding Henson Family Dealerships with his wife Liz in 1993 and making his permanent residence in Madisonville, TX. What started in the old P.M.

Standley Building on South May Street would one day become a multi dealership corporation with many other successful endeavors. Fred had the Midas touch to go along with an inspirational work ethic; he was always first in the building and last to leave, while encouraging others to take a leap to their own success and sometimes even partnering up with friends. Fred's stores thrived, as 'one customer told another.”

He used this platform to serve the community, and watched Madisonville grow and prosper from the front porch of the Dodge Store. He was accessible for anyone that would take the time to listen to one of his many “Fredisms!” In his spare time, he loved racing and working in his barn, starting with his Super Stock A Automatic Hemis and eventually finishing out his racing career with cobra jets, winning numerous races along the way.

Fred also served on numerous boards and committees including The First National Bank of Huntsville Board of Directors, and in 2004, he was named Madison County Man of the Year. He was also a supporter of The Madison County Fair Association, FFA, The Texas High School Rodeo Association, and The Texas A & M Equestrian program along with many other youth activities in Madison County. Through his life, he remained a faithful servant for God, which he honored as a trustee at Crossroads Cowboy Church in Madisonville, TX. Fred also served on the Pastor Search Committee at Crossroads Cowboy Church and also served on several committees at The First Baptist Church in Madisonville, TX. Through all his success, his family remained his most prized possession.

The visitation will be held on Sunday; April 23, 2023, from 4-6PM at Fannin Oaks Wedding Venue (2286 FM 1452 West) in Madisonville, TX. The funeral service is scheduled for 10AM on Monday; April 24, 2023, at The First Baptist Church in Madisonville.

The burial will follow at Allphin Cemetery in Midway, TX.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Fred’s honor to: The Michelle Lynn Holsey Foundation (PO Box 652; Crockett, TX 75835) or to The Cody Nes-Smith Foundation (514 NesSmith Road; Glenmora, LA 71433).
