Helen Sue Parks, a compassionate and loving woman who dedicated her life to her family and serving others, peacefully passed away on August 31, 2023, in the comfort of her home in Bedias, Texas. Born on April 9, 1926, in Payson, Oklahoma to Fred & Monta Elizabeth (Morgan) Michael, Helen was a source of light and inspiration to all who knew her.

Helen was a devoted wife to her late husband, Courtney Parks, and a nurturing mother to her children, Sandy Park and Courtney Parks, Jr. Helen Sue’s heart overflowed with joy as she watched her family grow and flourish.

With an unwavering commitment to education, Helen matriculated from the University of Houston, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree. Driven by her passion for spiritual guidance, she further pursued her studies at the Houston Graduate School of Theology, graduating with a Master’s degree in Divinity.

Helen’s thirst for knowledge was exemplified through her various roles as a teacher, reading specialist, hospital chaplain, counselor, and Pastor.

She touched countless lives throughout her career, offering wisdom, comfort, and guidance to those in need.

Helen’s warm smile and kind heart resonated with everyone she encountered. Her compassion knew no bounds, and she was always ready to lend a helping hand or provide solace to those in distress. As a devoted Pastor, Helen was a spiritual guide, offering words of encouragement and setting an inspiring example of faith and love.

Helen was preceded in death by both of her parents; beloved husband, Courtney Parks, Sr.; and siblings, Minnie Lou Flippen, Freda Ann Brink, Jo Nell Hajovsky, Fred Michael, Ted Michael and Mary Beth Wilson.

Left to cherish Helen’s memory are daughter, Sandy Park and husband, Clyde; son, Courtney Parks, Jr. and wife, Rosemary; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In honor of Helen’s remarkable life, friends, loved ones, and community members were invited to gather in remembrance during the funeral service held at 11 A.M., Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas.

Helen was laid to rest in a private ceremony in Black Jack Cemetery in the Phelps Community of Walker County. These events helped to celebrate her spirited character, her unwavering determination, and the immeasurable love she bestowed upon others.

Helen Sue Parks will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends, her legacy echoing through the lives she touched. Though she has left this earthly plane to join her Heavenly Father, her spirit will live on, a beacon of love and strength, guiding us through the darkest moments and reminding us to embrace each day with gratitude and kindness.
