Jeff Alonzo Farris, Jr., 86 years, of Madisonville, TX, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at his home in The Cottonwood Community of Madison County, TX. Jeff’s life will be celebrated 2 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2024, at The First Methodist Church in Madisonville with the visitation beginning prior to the service at 1 p.m. Rev. Jim Jackson and Rev. Ron Zeiner will officiate. The burial will follow the service at Oxford Cemetery in The Cottonwood Community.

Jeff was born on May 19, 1937 in Madisonville, TX to Jeff Alonzo Farris, Sr. and Annie Vivian (Madole) Farris. He graduated from Madisonville High School in 1954 and from Texas A&M University in 1958 earning both a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master of Education Degree.

After graduation, he began a thirty-five-year career as an agriculture science teacher in Columbus, TX where he met his wife, Sue. After retirement, Jeff and Sue moved back to The Cottonwood Community where he had ranching interests and were members of The First Methodist Church. Jeff was also a long-time board member of The Madison County Crimestoppers Association.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Kathryn Sue (Ball) Farris; his children, William Jeff Farris (Christine), Dawn Renee’ Shockey (Greg), and Darla Lynn Corona (Manny); his grandchildren, Joshua Kyle Farris (Kristen), Amanda Christine Farris, Blakeley Renee’ Thomas, Alexis Corona Wilson (Isaiah), and Tony Corona (Raquel); his sister, Angela (Farris) Fannin; his nephew, Blair Len Fannin (Brandi); and his great niece, Bailey Len Fannin.

Serving as pallbearers are Josh Farris, Isaiah Wilson, Blair Fannin, Michael Morawski, Nathan Morawski, and Manny Corona. Serving as honorary pallbearers are The Men’s Fellowship Sunday School Class – Jerry Reed, Rob Roy Spillars, Connor Owen, Nathan Davis, and Don Batson and The Madisonville High School Class of 1954.

Jeff’s grandchildren are requesting that everyone wear their favorite color – “it is Easter weekend and Grandpa brought light into each of our lives.”
