Linda Marie Losey Cordray, 75, went to be with the Lord on April 11, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 22 at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Madisonville, TX. Linda was born to Lawrence E. and Mildred A. Evans Losey on July 27, 1947, in Claremore, OK. She was the second of four children and had a happy childhood, growing up on their family farm.

She attended Sequoyah schools and graduated as the class of 1965 salutatorian.

She met her future husband, Everett, in the youth group at Bunker Hill Baptist Church near Vinita, OK. She attended business school in Tulsa and Everett went to Oklahoma State University.

They married in 1966 and lived in Stillwater. Daughter Kim arrived a year later. They lived in Raleigh, NC for a short time but returned to central Oklahoma where son James joined the family. Linda was a full-time mother and homemaker.

In 1977 they moved to Houston, a big change from the small towns.

After a year they moved to Palacios, TX and Linda also began working outside the home. In 1981 the family moved to Fairfield, TX. Linda never missed her kid’s band, FFA, sports and church events, and she volunteered in many organizations supporting them. After the kids graduated high school in Fairfield, Linda and Everett moved to Bay City, TX where she participated in women’s activities in their church and volunteered at a pregnancy center. In 2000 they moved to a small farm near Madisonville, TX to be nearer to their children and grandchildren. Here Linda again participated in activities at church, the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and volunteered at the Son-Shine Outreach Center.

Linda will be remembered for her kindness and service to others. Her family will also remember her amazing cooking.

She enjoyed crafting and sewing and served as the tailor for her family.

Whenever a grandchild was moving out of the house, Grandma and PawPaw always showed up with many things they would need to set up their new place.

She is preceded in death by her father Lawrence Losey, mother Mildred Losey, sister Kathy Losey Peck, fatherin- law Emory E. Cordray, and brother-in-law Larry Cordray.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Emory E. Cordray, Jr. (Everett), daughter and son-in-law Kim and David Daniel, son and daughter-in-law James and Sabra Cordray, grandchildren Michael, Jacob, Kayla (husband Vincent), Joshua, Amaya, Lindsey and Chase, and great-grandchildren Mateo, Vera, and Isaac.

She is also survived by mother-in-law Alyce Cordray Green, brother and sister-in-law Vernon and Carolyn Losey, sister Donna Losey Posey, brother- in-law Albert Peck, and sisters-in-law Lynn Cordray and Nancy Cordray, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Traditions Hospice, especially her care team members Sharon and Crystal.
