Nelson Drake, 62, of Madisonville, Texas passed away September 24, 2021 following an extended illness. He was born August 7, 1959 in Madisonville, Texas to Bobby Merle & Alene (Ivey) Drake. Nelson lived most of his life in Madisonville and was a member of First Baptist Church. Most people recognize Nelson as the longtime successful business owner and operator of Drake’s Collision Center in Madisonville.

Nelson loved his muscle cars, pick-up trucks and tractors. He also held a love for his community and always gave when asked to give and even gave when he wasn’t asked. Nelson loved the Lord and had a servant’s heart where he found great satisfaction in helping those in need. Most of all, Nelson loved his family, especially his grandchildren. It gave him great joy to spend time with them. Nelson will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Nelson was preceded in death by both of his parents. Surviving family includes son, Gaylon (Victoria) Drake of Madisonville; step-daughter, Natalie Drake and her daughter, Kylie; brothers, Bobby (Debra) Drake of Madisonville and Darrell Drake of Madisonville; grandchildren, Mallie, Izaiya and Josiya and special friend, Diane Cobb.

A funeral service for Nelson will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Madisonville Funeral Home. Joel Douget and Tommy Parker will officiate and music will be provided by Dennis Ivey and Tye Coleman. Interment will follow in Midway Cemetery, Midway, Texas. A gathering of friends and family will be held Tuesday, September 28 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
