A funeral service honoring the life of Patricia Lee Drake, 86, of North Zulch was held at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 20, 2023, at Willowhole Cemetery Chapel. Bro. Glenn Connor officiated the service. Pat was laid to rest next to her late husband, Lemuel in Willowhole Cemetery.

Patricia Lee Drake was born on October 2, 1936, in Omaha, Nebraska. She was adopted at an early age and raised by her grandparents, George & Mildred Shields. At the age of sixteen, she met her late husband, Lemuel, while he was working a Pipeline job in the area.

They married in 1952, and Pat moved to North Zulch, Texas where she resided the remainder of her life. Pat was a devoted wife and homemaker to her family and extended family. She was known to most as “Granny Pat” and was famous for her “Granny” pancakes and Christmas Cookies. Christmas was Pat’s favorite holiday, and she loved making her delicious cookies for everyone she could think of. Pat was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, North Zulch where she happily served in the kitchen during VBS every year.

She also had a beautiful singing voice and enjoyed singing hymns during church every Sunday. One of Pat’s favorite past times was reading. She also enjoyed going to the local schools where she read stories to the children.

Pat especially loved her family and loved being a grandmother and great-grandmother.

Pat passed away on April 18, 2023, in Bryan, following a brief illness.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Lemuel Drake; son, Gene Drake; great-granddaughter, Alex Vogeler and infant great-granddaughter, Angel Vogeler. Surviving family members include son Floyd Drake & wife Rhonda of North Zulch; daughter Shirley Cannon & husband Joe of Madisonville; brother Mike Medina, sister Donna Ray Medina; grandchildren Darren (Anna) Drake, Corey Cannon, Lori (Chris) Patterson, Jennifer Roll, and Ashley Childress; great-grandchildren, Dylan (fiance, Dusty), Dallas, Aden, Alexa, Riley Ann, Bowen Lloyd, Cameron, and Mikayla, as well as numerous extended family and friends.

Arrangements were under the direction of Madisonville Funeral Home.
