Peggy Wilson or “Peg,” as she referred to herself, was born in Houston, Texas to Heron and Mildred Ferguson and lived there thirty-six years until she moved to Huntsville and then Midway, where she raised her children. Anxious to return to the Houston area, she did so from 2005-2015 before coming back to spend her last years with Les “on the hill.”

Prior to the birth of her daughter, and then again when Penny got older, she worked outside the home in banking and bookkeeping. As her husband ailed Peg needed flexible employment and spent many years that she thoroughly enjoyed at Madisonville CISD driving a school bus and taking good care of all of “her kids.” Finally, she retired from the Texas Department of Corrections in 2005.

Peggy was an avid supporter of her children, involving herself in all of their endeavors and was loved by all their friends, for she was always present and available.

She longed to play the same role in the lives of her grandchildren, and did, as much as she was able. Whatever she was doing and wherever she went, she easily formed loyal relationships with whomever she came into contact with simply by being her boisterous, fun-loving self.

Peg was preceded in death by her father; her mother; her sister, Helen Taylor; and her husband, Thurston Wilson.

She is survived by her mate, Les Aitken; son, Phillip Risinger (Brian Stansberry), daughter, Penny Conner (Mike), grandsons, Alec Barker (Tatum), Wilson Barker (Hannah), and Avery Barker; great-grandchildren, Presley, Whitley, Henley, Hudson and Witton; and nieces, Joanna Carver, Jeanne Carter (Billy) and Jennifer Fore (Larry).

Peggy led a colorful life and leaves an unfillable void now that the light in her eyes has gone.

A funeral service for Peggy Beth (Ferguson) Wilson was held 10 A.M., Friday, January 13, 2023 at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas. Stuart Carter officiated the service. Interment followed in Midway Cemetery, Midway, Texas.

Pallbearers: Mike Conner, Thomas Aitken, Avery Barker, Phil Kurkoski, Wilson Barker, Brian Stansberry Arrangements were under the direction of Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas.
