The Madisonville fall tennis team continues to set new benchmarks for the program as they advanced to the Regional Quarterfinals with a 10-3 team victory over Burnet in the Area round Friday morning. The Mustangs matched up with Little River Academy Tuesday with a trip to the Regional Semifinals on the line.

The postseason journey began for head coach Catherine Sedlacek and the MHS tennis team with a 14-2 team victory over Hudson in the Bi-District round Oct. 11.

Madisonville saw victories in men’s doubles from the duos of Steven Payan and Caymen Forrest, Ivan Vera and Peyton Rose as well as Eli Risinger and Nathan Fleck. On the women’s side, doubles duos of Chaislyn DiSanto and Jenna Yeager were also victorious along with Galilea Camarena and Caitlin Manning as well as Addy McDougald and Serena Powers.

In mixed doubles, the duo of Elizabeth Guevara and Mason Railsback also picked up a win.

The Mustangs were also undefeated in men’s singles over Hudson with wins from Mason Railsback, Steven Payan, Caymen Forrest, Nathan Fleck, Ivan Vera, Leonel Zavala, Eli Risinger, Levi Lovell and Peyton Rose.

In women’s singles, MHS saw wins from McKenna Fraley and Alayna Nelson.

In Friday’s Area victory over Burnet, the Mustangs saw victories in men’s doubles from the duos of Steven Payan and Caymen Forrest, Ivan Vera and Peyton Rose as well as Levi Lovell and Leonel Zavala. On the women’s doubles side, Addy McDougald and Serena Powers were victorious for MHS.

Steven Payan, Caymen Forrest, Nathan Fleck, Ivan Vera, Leonel Zavala, Eli Risinger all picked up wins for the Mustangs in men’s singles to help MHS cruise to victory.

Another MHS victory over Little River Academy Tuesday would mean a date with either Livingston or Wharton with a trip to the Regional Finals on the line.

Little River Academy had a bye in the Bi-District round and a victory over Groesbeck to advance to the Regional Quarterfinals.
