Lexi Harris has been an accomplished hitter her whole college softball career, but the Normangee High School graduate has taken her hitting to another level. After batting a career-high .378 last year for University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, the senior led the starters with a .416 average through the first 34 games this season.

The Madisonville softball team concluded their season with a pair of losses in the Bi-District playoffs to top-ranked Jasper. A number of Madisonville track athletes advanced to Regionals for their performances in the Area Meet in Madisonville last week. The Madisonville baseball team dropped their third district matchup of the season Thursday with a 12-0 loss to highly touted and undefeated China Spring at MHS. The loss put the Mustangs in a tie for second place, for which they held the tiebreaker, entering Tuesday’s matchup at Connally.

The Madisonville softball team honored their three seniors for senior night at MHS Thursday after falling 7-1 to first place China Spring in their final home district bout. The Lady Mustangs entered Tuesday’s district finale against Connally tied for the fourth and final playoff spot with La Vega, but could potentially finish as high as the three seed.

Numerous Madisonville track athletes advanced to the Area Meet for their performances in the District Meet in La Vega last week. The Area Meet began in Madisonville Monday and resumed Wednesday (the comprehensive results will run in next week’s publication).
