Madisonville High School began its practice runs for Football, Volleyball, and Band on Monday, August 1. Starting a new sports season is enough to spark excitement in most towns, but the most important people during this time are the students and the coaches.

Several Madisonville baseball players were singled out for their selection to the 18-4A All-District squad as a result of their efforts during the 2022 season. “I believe that earning such achievements means that these student athletes have worked hard throughout the season, and I feel that it shows that our program is moving forward, and other teams understand that we are very competitive and getting better every year,” said Madisonville head coach Adam Borgfeld on the selections.

The Madisonville High School basketball program held a camp for local youth last week at the main gym at MHS. The camp focused on fundamentals and prepared the young Mustangs for what they will see as they progress through the program under head coach Brad Taylor.

The FC Mustangs youth soccer program recorded another successful year. The Fall 2021/Spring 2022 soccer season produced many memorable moments and has given the club momentum for the near future. This year the club had 5 teams in different competitions. Age groups included U9, U10, U11, U13 boys and girls. All teams impressed with their style of play and sportsmanship on the field. The U9 and U10 boys produced 4 champion medals and 4 runner-up medals at various tournaments in the Houston area.

The Little League’s closing ceremony was held May 19 at the Madisonville High School Auditorium. Awards were given to all T-Ball, Machine Pitch Boys, Coach Pitch Boys, as well as Minor/Major Boys and Major/Junior Girls.
