The family moved to Grimes County, Texas in 1920 and then to Madison County in 1922. She passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at age 100 years, 5 months & 19 days. Funeral services were held Friday, January 17, 2020, at 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church in Madisonville, Texas with Rev. Richard Wagstaff, officiating. Burial was at Madisonville Cemetery. more

After a 50-year hiatus from the big game, the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Tennessee Titans 35-24 Sunday to become AFC Champions for the first time since the 1969 season. The conference’s trophy bears the name of the franchise’s founding father, Lamar Hunt. Son and current owner, Clark Hunt, accepted the trophy after the win. more
The Madisonville women’s soccer team picked up three victories as hosts of the Madisonville Lady Mustang Soccer Classic at MHS, including a 2-0 win over Navasota Saturday in the third place matchup. more
The Madisonville soccer team split a pair of non-district, road matchups over the week with a 4-1 loss in Cleveland Jan. 14 and a 2-0 victory in Hempstead Friday. The Mustangs will compete in a number of standalone matchups to prepare for their district schedule after two tournaments to start the year. more
