The students, none of which had tested positive at the time of this writing, will work from home through the district’s online asynchronous learning program until they are eligible to return. more
In accordance with national and state trends, early and mail-in voting totals are up 5% in Madison County from the overall percentage of the county’s votes in 2016. The county has over 800 more registered voters than they did four years ago, according to Madison County Election Administrator Janet Boone. more

Sophomore Xzavier Whaley crossed the goal line for the third time in Friday’s 37-29 loss in Rusk to give Madisonville a chance to cut the deficit to one possession late. He then found Doug’kyrn Johnson in the end zone through the air to convert a two-point try and bring the Mustangs within eight points in the waning minutes. more

Seven weeks after a life-saving lung transplant and a valiant, courageous attempt to recover, aided heroically by his transplant team, Marvin Lynn Morrison, age 77, of Huntsville, Texas, departed this life and entered eternity Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020 in the presence of his second wife Ann Brock Morrison and his children, Shelli Morrison Weiss, Scott Owen Morrison, Avery-Ann Weiss, Brad Brock, and Jaina Wakefield at Baylor-St. Luke’s Medical Center, Houston, Texas. more
Leland Corley passed away peacefully surrounded by family October 8, 2020 in High Prairie, Texas, on the ranch that he so loved. He was born May 7, 1943 in Madisonville, Texas to Elmer & Irene Corley of Elwood and delivered into this world by Dr. James McKay. He attended Madison County schools and was a member of the MHS Class of 1961. As a young man, Leland worked as a pipeliner and ranch hand. On October 27, 1967, he married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Mathis. more
