Madison County has 25 active cases of COVID-19 according to the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), county officials announced to citizens via text Tuesday. The county now exceeds 20 active cases, meaning citizens are required to masks in public. more

Billie Wells, 88, of Madisonville, Texas passed away June 28, 2020. She was born January 19, 1932 in Singleton, Texas to parents, Earnest & Vera (Buckholtz) Peteete. Billie was a homemaker and lived in Singleton most of her life. She was an excellent cook and loved her family dearly. Billie was a member of the Church at Singleton and will be greatly missed by both her family and extended church family. more

Ira Frances Cox McNatt passed away peacefully on June 30, 2020 in Madisonville, Texas. She was weeks away from celebrating her 93rd birthday. Frances was born on July 29, 1927 in Avery, Texas. As a young woman, she moved to Dallas where she met her lifelong sweetheart, Dr. James Kenneth McNatt, Sr. They married in 1957 and moved to Houston, Texas where she was office manager, secretary and nurse at her husband’s family medical practice at Parkway Professional Building. During that time, she became a mother to James Kenneth McNatt, Jr. After retiring in 2003, they moved to their farm in New Waverly, Texas where she thrived living the country lifestyle she had always loved. more

Dr. George Washington Robinson, born in Missouri in 1814, came to Texas at the age of 15. At the Siege of Bexar in 1835, he was a member of Captain John Crane’s Company. At San Jacinto he was severely wounded by a large ball that went through his groin while he served in Captain William Ware’s company. After he recovered, on May 31, 1837, he was appointed second lieutenant of a company of mounted gunmen, and in the next year he served in the companies of Captains Elisha Clapp and Daniel Monroe. more
