Funeral services for Jewel Altimore, age 80, were held 10 A.M., Thursday, September 10, 2020 at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas. Interment took place later that day at 2 P.M. at Rosewood Cemetery, Humble, Texas. more
None of the tragic events of September 11, 2001 occurred in our area or even in our state, but as Americans it dealt us all a strong shock. Last week I asked some folks got their memories of that time. None hesitated, all remembered. It appears that many couldn’t bear to be alone with the news, and they felt compelled to contact someone else, someone to help bear the burden. I’m not explaining when for any of the below except the last. The others all occurred that fateful day. more

Since the Lady Bulldogs are on of two 1A teams in a predominately 2A district, they will qualify for the postseason regardless of their district record. more
The Madisonville volleyball team split a pair of non-district matchups last week with a victory over Huntington Sept. 8 and a homecoming loss to highly-touted Sealy Friday. They have one game remaining before the start of district play in Mexia Sept. 22. more
The Madisonville defense allowed just two first downs in the first half of Friday’s 24-7 victory over Teague at MHS and held control of the team’s strong running game throughout the homecoming contest. more
