Jimmy Chionsini passed away on July 21, 2020, in Petoskey, Michigan, near his home he shared with his wife of 26 years, Macy. Living on Round Lake in Charlevoix, Michigan, was the place he wanted to be – in the summer.  He spent his winters in San Angelo and on the No Name Ranch. more
Darrell Hall neighborhood news… Chad Mallett wrote us last week [We are] “waiting on cost [estimates]. Hope to have that by next week, if not sooner. Once we have that, we can set up an informal meeting with residents to discuss options and viability. If we press forward, we will advertise and set up a public hearing. We can then bring [the proposal] before Commissioner's Court for approval and have the residents vote.” more

Dorothy Ann "Dot" (Hines) Wells, age 63, of Normangee, Texas passed away in her sleep Friday, July 24, 2020. She was born on December 4, 1956 to Roger C. and Doris Goodrum Hines in Bryan, Texas. She graduated from Bryan High School in 1975. She married Bruce Wells of Madisonville in 1980 and they welcomed their only child Kendra in 1984. She worked at Lilly and Criswell’s Distributing Company both in Bryan. She then worked 17 years for Texas A&M - TEEX until she retired in 2007. After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her friends and family especially her granddaughters who she loved more than anything. She loved her church family, taking cruises, penny slot machines, playing 42 and Bunco, collecting cookbooks and trying new recipes. She loved to dance to good country music. With a heart the size of Texas, she never met a stranger. She had a contagious smile and laugh. more
Novis “Jean” Turpin was born July 15, 1928 in Madison County, Texas to parents, Jim Davis & Ira (Phillips) Stewart. She married Forrest L. Turpin July 17, 1948. Jean worked as an insurance administrator for a community hospital in Freeport, Texas for fifteen years. She had lived in Madison County since 1988 and was a member of First Baptist Church in Madisonville. more

According to data received from the Texas Department of State Health Services by Madison County officials on Monday, there are currently 153 active cases of COVID-19 in the county, a rise of 10 from the week before. The agency reported a total of 181 confirmed cases of the novel coronoavirus in the county up to Monday. There are still no COVID-19 related deaths reported for the county. more
Madison County Commissioners Monday passed a trio of measures that will accelerate efforts to collect delinquent personal property taxes from local businesses. Commissioners agreed to enter a new contract with law firm Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, one of the country’s largest debt collection operations, but also under a new agreement that will allow the firm to seek delinquent taxes on April 1 instead of prior arrangement that didn’t allow collections until July 1 each year. more
