Bryan College Station Sports and Events announced the cancelations of the annual Aggieland Invitational Girls Basketball Tournament as well as the inaugural BCS Volleyball Classic in a July 21 press release.

The decision came as a result of mandates from the University Interscholastic League (UIL), which announced no tournaments or showcases will be held in the upcoming season as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We deeply respect the decisions made by the UIL to not allow tournaments this year,” said Dominique Powell, Director of Bryan College Station Sports and Events. “Our organization, along with our community partners, are looking forward to having these events back next year.”

The Madisonville women’s basketball team was a consistent competitors in the annual Aggieland Invitational, which is hosted in December. It has brought in some of the top Texas high school girls basketball programs to the BCS area for two decades and has become one of the most well-regarded holiday tournaments in the state.

It was scheduled to take place Dec. 28-30.

Aug. 20-22 would have marked the inaugural installment of the BCS Volleyball Classic, with support from the Bryan ISD and College Station ISD volleyball programs.
