Amanda Pointer, age 43, of Jacksonville, passed away on June 8, 2019 in Tyler. She was born May 7, 1976 in Freeport, Texas.
Amanda had a true love and passion for music. She enjoyed singing and acting at the Community Theater in Rusk and with The Ambassadors at Lon Morris College. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She worked at Rusk State Hospital as a life skills teacher as well as a special needs teacher assistant at Jack Elementary. Amanda had a passion to care for animals she found on the street.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Pointer and a daughter, Kaia.
Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Paula Tuck and husband Gerald of Jacksonville; daughter, McKenna Pointer of Jacksonville; a granddaughter, Amari Grace Pointer of Jacksonville. Her brothers and sisters-in-law are Richard and Gina Pointer, Aaron and Jaclyn Pointer, Jared and Christina Pointer, Terry Yates and Kelly Yates. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a second mother, KK.
A funeral service is scheduled at 1 o’clock in the afternoon Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Bullard. Visitation will begin at 12:30 at the church. Burial services will be held at 4:30 p.m. at Jozye Cemetery in Madisonville, TX. Rick Graff and Bishop Brian Brems will officiate. Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville.
Pallbearers will be Terry Yates, Richard Pointer, Aaron Pointer, Jared Pointer, Brad Bryant, Michael Yates, Matt Yates and Mitchell Yates.
