Arlene Elizabeth Richardson-Owens


Alene Elizabeth Richardson-Owens was born February 1, 1933 in Nacogdoches, Texas to George “Teddy” Richardson and Addie Lorene Thomas. At an early age she was baptized and accepted Christ. She lived for many years in Houston, Texas until she moved to Madisonville, Texas where she joined Lakeview Baptist Church in 1984. She was currently a proud member of the Mission Board, Women of Charity and served as Sunday School Superintendent. For many years, Mrs. Owens led numerous auxiliaries with diligent fervor and the unconditional love of Christ. In August 1997, she started the S.H.E.E.P. prayer line leading ladies in early morning prayer. She was the “Down Home Gospel Radio Show” host for KMVL for over thirty years. She transitioned in peace to be with the Lord on May 6, 2019.

Mother Owens was preceded in death by her two sons, Lawrence C. Thomas, Jr. & Anthony Earl Owens. She is survived by the father and grandfather of her children, Carl Owens; her loving daughters, Carla Elizabeth Owens-Johnson, Elizabeth Rachel Johnson and Nicole L. Thomas-Smith. She has two grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is the loving godmother to Gabriel Baldwin and special “granny” to Jacelynn “Paige” Lotts.

Homegoing services for Mrs. Owens were held 11 A.M., Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Lakeview Baptist Church in Madisonville, Texas. Burial followed in Two Mile Cemetery in Leona, Texas.

Arrangements were entrusted to Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville, Texas.
