The Madisonville Mighty Mustang Band hosted their second annual market day in the high school cafeteria and raised nearly two thousand dollars for their summer trip to Florida.
“The event was a huge success and we all want to thank everybody who came,” said Madisonville Head Band Director Stephanie Schmidt. “We raised more than $800 more than we did last year and featured five more vendors.”
Schmidt credited Madisonville band parents Jenna Norris and Sharon Johnson with being the brains behind the operation they call the “mini Mushroom Festival.” The event featured 25 booths of various items including Tupperware, jewelry, custom printing, cookies, soaps and other homemade gifts. There was also a silent auction with donations from local businesses as well as a concession stand.
The band is thrilled with the results and looking forward to the third annual event next year, which is already scheduled for May 4, 2019. On top of all the features at the arts and crafts festival this year, Schmidt revealed that next year’s event will be event will include a car show.
