Bedias Civic Club to Host July 4 Fireworks

Posted

The Bedias Civic Club will host a fireworks display starting around 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Everyone welcome. Attendees are requested to observe social distancing while enjoying the event.

The June and July Bedias Women’s Club meetings are canceled, and the next anticipated women’s club meeting will be in August, barring unforeseen circumstances.

The Bedias Museum and Library is expected to reopen Thursday, and a special collection of books remains available on the library steps for Bedias area residents to take home and share with friends and family.

It is likely that many Bedias events and gatherings will still be disrupted through much of June, and possibly July, please watch for postings and notices on the Bedias community bulletin board at the Bedias Civic Center and at the Bedias Post Office.

Do you live in a Darrell Hall neighborhood? Want to see improvements to these terrible roadway conditions? Please visit our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/FixOurDarrellHallRoad to learn about efforts to address these long-standing issues.

We have corresponded with Grimes County Commissioner Chad Mallet several times about his offer to put forward the following proposal to, finally and properly, address long standing roadway issues in Darrell Hall developments, but have yet to receive a response:

“Chad Mallett, Grimes County Commissioner Pct. 1-- I believe that this is a little more relevant…

Sec. 253.003. PROPOSAL FOR COUNTY IMPROVEMENT OF SUBDIVISION ROADS AND ASSESSMENT OF COSTS. If the commissioners court of a county determines that the improvement of a road in a subdivision or of an access road to a subdivision is necessary for the public health, safety, or welfare of the residents of the county, the commissioners court may propose to:

1. Improve the road to comply with county standards for roads; and

2. Assess all or part of the costs of the improvement pro rata against the record owners of the real property of the subdivision or a defined part of the subdivision.”

If you have an occasion to correspond with Mr. Mallett, please encourage him to press forward with this important action; chad.mallett@grimescountytexas.gov, (936) 870-5179, www.facebook.com/commissionermallett.

We have been offering refreshing and uplifting Christian films at Navasota’s Faith Outreach Christian Center for more than two years and, for a number of years, through the generous support of David and Rebecca Marlow, at the Miller’s Theatre.

We will be placing our Christian film showings on hiatus for the time being until we feel we have regained the community’s support to begin again. You can find more information about Faith Outreach on their webpage, www.foccministries.com.

Please go to our page, www.facebook.com/BediasTexasChristianFilmFestival, or www.facebook.com/FOCC1976, for more information on our programs.
