Bertha Pauline “Polly” Harrison Sword passed away Tuesday, April 23rd, 2019 in a Bryan, Texas hospital at the age of 84. She was born October 15, 1934 in Newelton, Louisiana, daughter of Alton Burt Harrison and Mary Elizabeth Girod.
Polly worked for First Continental Insurance Company in Houston and retired from American Capitol Insurance Company in Houston, Texas. She attended the Singleton Family Bible Church. She had wonderful friends at Madisonville Manor in Madisonville, Texas.
Her parents preceded her in death, as did her husband, Harold Albert Sword and her oldest son, Harold Lester Sword, and her only sibling, Ardelius Burt “Rob” Harrison.
She is survived by her sons, Perry (Kay) Sword, from Katy, Texas, and Larry K. Sword of Houston, Texas. Her grandchildren are Dennis (Becky) Sword, Brett Sword, Matthew (Heather) Sword, Chris Sword, Kyle (Matty) Sword, Lane (Dianna) Sword, Amanda Sword (Eric) Perales, Larry K. Sword, Jr., and Lance Sword. Daughter in Law, Debbie Sword, and Sister in Law Carol Richter Harrison of Spokane, Washington. She has 14 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers are Ty Sword, Chase Sword, Ethan Sword, Jackson Sword, Lance Sword, and Kyle Sword.
Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, April 29th, 2019 at the Singleton Family Bible Church, followed by the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Singleton Cemetery. Pastor Floyd Hoke is officiating. Services are under the direction of the Southern Heritage Funeral Home, Bedias, Texas.
