Billy Gene Bishop, 89, of Dallas, passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2018, in Dallas. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, June 23, at Day Funeral Home Chapel in Madisonville, with the burial to follow at Bedias Baptist Cemetery in Bedias.
Billy was born on July 30, 1928 in Bedias, TX to Pliny Plaster (Bish) Bishop and Ethel (Barnett) Bishop. He served his country honorably in the medial corps with the United States Navy, was a lifelong Mason, and owned and operated Cross County Pipeline Supply.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Marcel Bishop Barnes and Bobby James Bishop; his nieces, Shelly Barnes Stover and Cheryl Bishop Newland; and his wife’s son, William Merrill McCrae.
Billy is survived by his wife, Dr. Jean (White) McCrae Bishop; his daughters, Pamela Jeane Bishop Cemino, Patrice Bishop Lynne Cates and Perian Kaye Bishop and her fiancé, Larry White; his grandchildren, Luke Anthony Cemino, Katherine Rebecca Cemino Stalcup and her husband, Sgt. Chance Stalcup, Charlee Christine Cates and Carlee Michael Cates; his great-grandchildren, Jordan Alexandria Cemino and Rylen Michael Cates; his niece, Brooke Bishop Foster; the mother of his children, Dora Bishop Halliwell; and his wife’s children, James Robert McCrae, Gail Jeane Leslie and Marsha L. McCrae.
Serving as pallbearers are James Robert McCrae, Craig Stover, Steven Stover, Tyler Stover, Rylen Cates, Larry White, Raymond Baugh, Wilkie Hayes, Lamar Allen, Charles Cates, Jack Douglas, Bill Bishop and Ed Roberts.
