The North Zulch Bulldogs baseball team dropped two games last week against district opponents Normangee and Grapeland.
The Bulldogs lost to their Highway 39 rival, The Normangee Panthers, at home by a lopsided score of 16-3. The Bulldogs hosted the Panthers on Tuesday March 20, and North Zulch did not have an answer for Normangee’s offense.
North Zulch made six errors against the Normangee and they allowed as many runs in the first inning. The Bulldogs had seven hits on the night and converted it into just three runs.
Cole Weaver had a good night at the plate with two hits, an RBI and a run scored in his four plate appearances. Stephen Harris and Blake Housley scored the two other runs on the night for the Bulldogs.
On Friday, the Bulldogs had similar struggles on the road against the Grapeland Sandies. They had difficulties at the plate as well as defensively and were shutout 10-0.
North Zulch Baseball is 4-6-1 overall on the season and have one district win. The next game for the baseball team is Thursday at Lovelady, and their next home game is Tuesday against the Latexo Tigers.
It was a tale of two games for the Lady Bulldogs softball team, with both a lopsided win and loss over the week.
After an 11-0 shutout loss on the road to Normangee, North Zulch hosted the Burton Lady Panthers last Friday. The Lady Bulldogs had an excellent performance at the plate and made up for the previous shutout with a whopping 20-2 victory in front of the home crowd. The North Zulch softball team now is now 6-5 on the season. They will take on the Mumford Mustangs at home this Thursday.
