Madisonville cross country runner Madi Caperton competed at the state meet in Round Rock for the second straight season on Nov. 3 and finished 119th overall.
“I think I did great compared to last year,” said Caperton. “It was windy and difficult but I pushed through and I feel like I did an excellent job. I would not have been able to do it without the support of my coach, teammates or family.”
After qualifying for state a year ago, Caperton was determined to make it back again in her junior year. Now that she has accomplished that, her motivation has now shifted to senior year as she looks for a third straight appearance at state.
“I am very motivated,” said Caperton. “I just strive to get better and better and it helps to have a great attitude. It is easy when you have the support that I have.”
Caperton is the first runner Madisonville cross country Coach Jo Dorman has had qualify for state in back-to-back seasons.
“(Madi) is a great leader and a hard worker,” said Dorman. “She likes to run and she likes to win. I am just excited about next year to see what she does. She plans on going back again.”
