Car wreck claims local woman

Madisonville native Rebecca Medina fell victim to a deadly two-car collision early Sunday morning near Livingston on Saturday night.

According to the Texas Department of Public Service, Medina was traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 190 in a 2008 Ford Escape. Troopers think Medina crossed the highway centerline, colliding with a 2012 Jeep Wrangler driven by Joseph Johnson, 55 of Livingston.

Troopers are still investigating the matter and have 10 days to file a final report.

Also in the Jeep was Tammy Johnson, 55 of Livingston.

Medina and Joseph Johnson were transported to Conroe Regional Medical Center, where doctors pronounced Medina dead shortly after midnight. Joseph Johnson is listed in critical condition, according to DPS officials.

Tammy Johnson was taken to CHI St. Luke’s Health Memorial in Livingston and is currently stable, according to troopers.

DPS officials said all passengers involved in the collision were wearing seatbelts.
