Lanier Stevens' Memorial Gospel Singing

The Midway Church of Christ will host The Lanier Stevens' Memorial Gospel Singing on Tuesday in the church's Fellowship Hall. Finger food will be served at 6 p.m. and the singing will start shortly thereafter. Dennis Ivey will be hosting the event and anyone who likes to sing, play an instrument or just listen to some good 'ole Gospel and country music is invited to attend.

Davis Family Reunion

Hilltop Lakes Classical Conversations meeting

The Hilltop Lakes Community of Classical Conversations®, a classical education resource for Christian homeschoolers, will hold an open Information meeting for interested parents at 6:30 a.m. Monday at Living Truth Church – 1100 N. Hilltop Lakes tennis camp

Hilltop Lakes Chapel, No. 2 Hilltop Lakes Drive, will host a tennis camp Monday through July 11, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. with instructor Famous Cory Horne. The camp costs $15 per family. For more information, call the chapel office at 936-855-2386.

Madisonville CISD substitute teacher training

Madisonville CISD’s Community Education Program will offer substitute teacher training July 22-15 at Madisonville Elementary School. The class will meet from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. each day in the library. Genealogy Weekend at Huntsville Library

The Huntsville Public Library and the Walker County Genealogical Society will host the seventh annual Frances Sprott Goforth Memorial Genealogy Weekend on Aug. 2 and 3. On-site registration for “Believe It or Not? – How to Verify Research” will begin at 9:30 a.m. for both days at the Huntsville Public Library. Programs will be presented from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 2 and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on August 3. A light supper will be provided on Friday. MC/MA reunion

Organizers have slated the Madisonville Colored/Marian Anderson High School reunion for Oct. 5. They are looking for graduates of the 1969, 1970 and 1971 classes. Graduates from those years should contact Jackie Johnson or Alice Turner at 936-348-8344.

Head Start

BVCAP Head Start is a preschool program that provides comprehensive educational social services to eligible children. Head Start provides a rich, developmentally appropriate educational curriculum, social services to help with everyday needs of life, mental health services and nutrition services. Parenting class

Safe Families of Brazos Valley hosts a parenting class at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church for adults 18 years or older.

The class continues every Thursday until May 16, and meets from 5:30-7 p.m. Topics include communication, family fun, problem solving and more. Dinner and childcare provided.

Madisonville GED and ESL Classes

Adult GED (general education diploma) classes will be held from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays at 714 Bacon St. in Madisonville. There is no charge for attending.

English as a Second Language classes will be held Mondays from 5-9 p.m. Classes are free to attend.

A free community grief program for pet loss will be held from 10-11:30 a.m. the second Saturday each month at the Mending Hearts Grief Center, 2112 Southwood Drive, in College Station.
