Madison County has 25 active cases of COVID-19 according to the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), county officials announced to citizens via text Tuesday. The county now exceeds 20 active cases, meaning citizens are required to masks in public.

Results from the testing at Lake Madison from June 29 are currently being processed and individuals are being notified.

“Of the tests collected (at Lake Madison), at least 16 were conformed positive,” said the press release. “However, these may or may not be Madison County residents, and they may be re-tests, also. Therefore, we are not expecting that all of these positive results will show on our future count but it is possible.”

13 of the total 38 cases have recovered, according to officials.
