County unveils plans for testing

Posted

Madison County is in the process of establishing drive-through testing sites for the COVID-19 virus, officials announced via a SMS text message to citizens Wednesday.

“We are working with our state and local partners to offer a one-day, drive-through test collection site in Madison County utilizing a Texas National Guard mobile testing site,” said the message. “We expect a very short notice from the state as to when this will take place in our county.”

It has been over a week since the second confirmed COVID-19 case showed up in the county.

According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, the number of new cases across Texas has been in decline since Thursday, with 535 confirmed COVID-19 cases on Monday, down from 963 on Thursday. The highest daily total of new cases in the state so far was 1,441 on April 10.
