Earnest Clayton “Pete” Thorworth was born Dec. 8, 1944, in Houston, to Ernest Clyde and Catherine Virginia (Taylor) Thorworth. He worked for more than 30 years as an accountant for Exxon Mobile. Following his retirement, Pete worked as a correctional officer for TDCJ for several years.
Pete enjoyed being outdoors. Hunting, fishing, and especially camping with his family were just a small number of activities he loved doing most. Pete was also a motorcycle enthusiast and took many trips through the Hill Country of Texas on his own motorcycle.
Pete had recently been baptized at Madisonville Christian Fellowship Church in Madisonville. He had since devoted much of his time to volunteering in various church activities. His keen organizational skills and willingness to do anything for anyone quickly made him and adored member of his church.
Pete had lived in Madisonville since 2000 and had spent the last several years in Hilltop Lakes. He passed away Nov. 23, 2018 in Bryan. Pete was preceded in death by both of his parents; a brother, Timothy “Timmy” Thorworth; and a sister, Kathy Scott.
Surviving family members include daughters, Reagan Guess (Gary) of Cypress and Ashley Muegge (Layne) of Rosenberg; a brother, Steve Thorworth of Hockley; a sister, Lisa Wooster of Magnolia; a sister-in-law, Debbie Thorworth of Hockley; and a brother-in-law, Jim Scott of Spring. Pete is also survived by grandchildren Gavin, Lyla, River and Levi.
A visitation for Pete will be held Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018, from 1-3 p.m. at the Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville. A memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. at Madisonville Christian Fellowship Church in Madisonville.
