Edith Jewell (Todd) Stephens, 82, a long-time resident of Madisonville, Texas, passed away Friday, March 22, 2019 in Cleveland, TX. Graveside services are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Mount Tabor Cemetery in Madisonville, TX with Bro. Warren Hunt officiating.
Edith was born on May 10, 1936 in Madison County, TX to Horace and Bama (Adams) Todd. She graduated from Madisonville High School and had her cosmetology license, but spent her life dedicated to being a housewife and mother. Edith was baptized at Melrose Baptist Church in Houston, TX, and at the time of her death, she was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Cleveland, TX. She enjoyed shopping, watching TV, working crossword puzzles, boating with her husband in Galveston, TX, and playing with her granddaughter, Ashley. Edith liked to go on long drives, enjoying the scenery with her husband, which often ended with a stop at McDonald’s for an ice cream cone!
Edith was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Grady Todd and Glenn Todd; her husband, Calvin Stephens; and her sons Timothy Colquitt and Jerry Stephens.
Edith is survived by her granddaughter, Ashley Dawn Beeman and her husband Daemon Beeman and her great granddaughter, Addyson James.
