Our mother and “mema”; Elizabeth (Green) Bailey, 84 years, 5 months, 3 days; of Madisonville, TX; went to be with her Lord on Mother’s Day; May 12, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Friday, May 17, 2019 at The First Baptist Church in Madisonville, TX with the burial to follow at Madisonville City Cemetery. Bro. John Green and Bro. Joshua Crutchfield will officiate. The visitation is schedule from 5-7PM on Thursday, May 16th at Day Funeral Home Chapel in Madisonville, TX.

Elizabeth was born on December 9, 1934 in Neches, TX to Rubie and Hattie (Wood) Green. She graduated from Palestine High School in Palestine, TX and soon moved to Houston, TX where she worked for Prudential Insurance. While working for Prudential, she met Boyd Bailey, who was also working for Prudential while attending law school. They were married on November 24, 1956 and moved to Madisonville, TX in 1957. Elizabeth worked in various positions at Farmers State Bank (now Wells Fargo Bank) and Madisonville State Bank (now Prosperity Bank) for 42 years. She was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed playing softball, reading, cooking, playing 42 and spending quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her brothers, Rubie Green, Jr., Donald Green and Travis Green; and her sisters, Lucilla Bishop and Katherine Pryor. She is survived by her children, David M. Bailey and his wife Stephanie of Madisonville, TX, Russell B. Bailey and his wife Cindy of Madisonville, TX, R. Lynn Moore and her husband Jake of College Station, TX, and Laura Bailey of Madisonville, T; her brothers John Green and his wife Betty of Conroe, TX and Ronnie Green of Rockdale, TX; her sisters-in-law, Peggy Green of Neches, TX and Velma Maynard of Madisonville, TX; her grandchildren, Anna Bailey, Aaron Bailey, Heather Falls and her husband Clay, Rachael Carter and her husband Abe, Amy Nettum and her husband Nat, Lindsay Stirling and her husband Ben, Jacob Fairhurst, Andrew Fairhurst, Parris Colbert, Stacey Viser and Will Viser; her great-grandchildren, Brody Nettum, Brooklynn Nettum, Alexis Cantu, Joshua Cantu, Primrose Fairhurst, Wyatt Carter, Bailey Carter and Kendall Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers are: Ronnie Finch, Randy Bishop, Larry Bishop, Mike Bishop, Rick Pryor, Ron Green, Jr., Jason Green, Junior Green, Tim Green, Chris Green, Gary Lindsey, and Clay Plunkett.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Elizabeth’s memory to Bristol Hospice of The Woodlands, TX or an organization of your choice.
