Ethel Mae "Red" Banks, 69, of Houston; departed this life on Oct. 20, 2018, peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family. Graveside services were held Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018, at Westend Memorial Cemetery in Madisonville, and these services are under the direction of Day Funeral Home in Madisonville.
Ethel Mae was born on Sept. 12, 1949, in Lubbock, to Ruby-Banks Gilbert and Henry Jordan and was raised by her stepfather, James Gilbert in Madisonville.
Ethel Mae graduated from Marion Anderson High School in Madisonville, was retired from the Houston Independent School District, and was a faithful member of New Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
Ethel Mae was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister, and one granddaughter. She is survived by her children, Curtis Banks (Brenda), Sue Walker (Wesley), Regina Pruitt (Keith), Leotha Jones (Joe), Rachelle Banks and Mia Banks; her 20 grandchildren; her 28 great-grandchildren; three sisters; five brothers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
