Floyd Dale Gulling, Sr. 85 years, 7 months, 5 days; from Bedias, TX; passed away on Monday, May 25, 2020 at his home in Bedias, TX.

Floyd was born on October 20, 1934 in Percy, Iowa to Frank and Edith (Simbro) Gulling and was one of 14 children. As a child, he was nicknamed “Dusty”, because he was always covered in dirt.

Floyd enlisted in the Army in 1952 and served in the Korean War between 1952 and 1955. After his return, Floyd spent numerous years as a business owner, working in the construction industry and home building. Later he went on to complete his career at a company that manufactured large pipes for the oil and gas industry.

Floyd enjoyed classic country music, old country western movies, and the peacefulness of quiet, rural farm life. You could often find him sitting beneath the large oak trees, checking the garden or feeding the chickens and horses. Above all else though, family was his greatest joy. His face lit up at the sight of his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and he delighted in giving them pony and tractor rides.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, daughter Janice Illene Gulling, sons Floyd Dale Gulling, Jr. and Manuel Allen Gulling, son-in-law Robert Engelhardt, Sr., grandsons Floyd Dale Gulling, III (DJ), Thurbert Wayne Gulling, and Robert Engelhardt, Jr.

Floyd is survived by his wife Joan (Kocian) Gulling, his sister Florence Wardwell, his children Jean Lyman, Robin Riner, Kitty Engelhardt, Misty Gulling, Kelly Gulling, Dusty Gulling, Joanna Cetinkaya (Olca), three step-daughters Cindy Guderian (Glenn), Michele Barrum (Craig), and Kim Phillips (Matt), 31 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

A viewing is scheduled from 12:00-2:00 PM on Saturday, May 30th followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM at J M Day Funeral Home in Madisonville, TX.
