Golf takes district crown


The Madisonville golf team won the district championship after their performances on April 1 and April 8 in Fairfield and will now compete in the Regional Tournament in Huntsville on April 22-23.

The Mustangs posted district scores of 307 and 326 on the respective days and ultimately finished 45 strokes ahead of second-place Palestine. They battled tough conditions on both days with a mix of wind, rain and a soaked course.

Brylen Mills placed first with rounds of 76 and 72 and ultimately took the district title in a one-hole playoff over Fairfield.

Jordan Prescott finished third with scores of 76 and 82 while Brad Rudis finished fourth with a 77 and an 82.

Also placing for the Mustangs were Brandon Larson (seventh), Max Allen (10th), Jordan Baker (11th) and Cade Colwell (18th).
