Ms. Mooney was born June 14, 1928, in Madisonville to Jeddy and Vera (Phillips) Alfred, who preceded her in death. Helen was raised on the Murray Farm, which is now the 7J/Rattlesnake Ranch, outside of Crockett. Graduating from Austonio High School in 1941. She furthered her education at Sam Houston State Teachers College. After obtaining her degree in teaching, Helen began not only her career, but her passion. After 30 years of teaching and substituting, she retired alongside her husband, James T. Mooney. Helen and James were married for 72 years. The two faithfully served at the First Baptist Church of Madisonville. And along with many anniversaries came two sons, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, travel and lots of adventures. Mimi was a sophisticated woman who carried herself with such grace but loved horses and catching a catfish or two. She left a lasting impression on our hearts and will be greatly missed.
Mimi is survived by her husband James; and two sons and their wives, David and Sandra Mooney and Gary and Kathy Mooney. Also surviving are grandchildren and spouses, Jesse and Jessica Mooney, Holly, William and Bailey Mooney and Austin and Katie Mooney. Helen welcomed eight great-grandchildren; Savannah, Conner, Jake, Elliott, Hayes, Cullen, Samuel and Kenton.
