Hwy 21 bridge project slated for Jan. 27

A project to widen the State Highway 21 bridge over Interstate 45 is scheduled to begin Jan. 27, resulting in eight months of lane shifts and traffic rerouting, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.

In a press release Tuesday, TxDOT said projects message boards and signs will be placed beginning Jan. 13.

“To help drivers during the construction process, portable changeable message signs will be in place at various locations approaching the bridge to alert drivers of changes to traffic patterns and upcoming closures,” the agency said in the release. “Drivers should reduce speed and maintain safe traveling distances between vehicles.”

The $4 million project will increase the bridge over I-45 to five lanes.  Houston-based Fused Industries will perform the construction.
