Iola Hay Day signals start of football season


Midnight Madness at Iola high school football stadium 8/5/18 starting at 9pm. Tailgating set up begins at 8pm. Come out for community fun and adult 7-7 football, support the football team, band and cheerleaders.’ This is a fun filled night that kicks off practice for out fighting bulldog football team. It is a family friendly event and a great time for all ages.

•The Iola Community Center is preparing for the Iola Hay Day Festival. It will take place Saturday, Oct. 13, Homecoming Weekend. Festivities will begin at 8 a.m. with a 5K Bulldog Dash. At 9:30 our Parade will begin to travel down Main Street. Games and vendor booths will open at 10 a.m. and be open until 2 p.m. We will also have entertainment throughout the day. Bring your whole family and enjoy the day.

•If you were unable to make the soccer signups, no worries: you can still contact Lori Bay and sign up kids from pre-K through sixth grade. All games and practices will be in Iola. The cost is $40 per child and will include a jersey, shorts and soccer socks. The deadline is Aug. 8.

•School is set to start August 22, and I don’t know about y’all, but I am ready for cooler weather, Friday night lights and to get back into the school routine.

•Cross Baptist Church is having its VBS this week. It will be through Friday and from 6:15-8:15 p.m.
