Funeral services for James Gray, age 90, of Madisonville, were held 10 A.M., Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville. Rev. Jim Jackson officiated the service, and interment with Masonic funeral rites followed in Madisonville Cemetery.

Funeral services for James Gray, age 90, of Madisonville, were held 10 A.M., Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville. Rev. Jim Jackson officiated the service, and interment with Masonic funeral rites followed in Madisonville Cemetery.

James Carrell Gray was born February 19, 1929 in Fisher, Louisiana to George & Clara Gray. He was raised in Eunice, Louisiana and earned his master’s degree in education. James was a well loved and respected teacher in Madisonville. Following his retirement, James enjoyed working in his wood shop. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Madisonville where he loved singing in the church choir and playing his harmonica. James was also an active member of the Bedias Masonic Lodge #651 A.F. & A.M. He had lived in Madisonville since 1974, coming from Beaumont.

James passed away September 22, 2019 at his home in Madisonville. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; wife, Gean Gray and grandson, JC Isaigh Smith. Surviving family members include son, Joe Gray (Beth) of Bedias; daughters, Nell Green (Butch) of Houston, Myra Duke (Joel) of Bryan and Jenny Smith of Bryan, sixteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren and one great, great-granddaughter.

Pallbearers: Randy Gray, Joshua Duke, Jerry Reed, Robert Gray, Phil Johnson, Tommy Dommert, Austin Dommert, Kenneth Bounds

Arrangements were under the direction of Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville, Texas.
