Graveside funeral services for Jerald Dean Tarver, 91, of Madisonville, were held Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, at the Farris Cemetery south of Madisonville. Lanier Stevens officiated the service.
Jerald Dean Tarver was born on Aug. 5, 1926, to Garrett and Nannie Sue (Farris) Tarver. He served his country in the U.S. Navy in the south pacific during World War II. In his younger days, Jerald was a semi-pro basketball player and semi-pro bowler. He retired from Armco Steel in 1982 as a supervisor and superintendent. Jerald served as the constable for Madison County for 20 years and was a Master Peace Officer. He enjoyed raising cattle, gardening and bowling. Jerald was a quiet individual who most will remember as a true southern gentleman. He had lived in Madisonville for the past 35 years. Jerald passed away on Nov. 20, 2017, in Kingwood. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; wife, Genelle Tarver; and brother, James Tarver.
Surviving family members include son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Brenda Tarver of Spring; daughters and son-in-law, Terry Tarver of Huffman and Connie and David Emerson of Kingwood; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Jean Nell Tarver of Brenham; and six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
