Joe Blackwell, 70, of Nacogdoches, passed away in the early morning hours of Feb. 18, 2018, in a Longview hospital. Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 23, at Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville. The Rev. Randy Fowler officiated the service, and interment followed in the Park Cemetery.
Joe Allen Blackwell was born Dec. 15, 1947, in Houston, to Chester and Betty (Baker) Blackwell. He was raised in Houston and had also resided in Jacksonville, as well as, the state of Florida. He worked as a carpenter. Joe was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was Baptist in faith. He had lived the last 12 years of his life in Nacogdoches.
Joe was preceded in death by both of his parents. Surviving family members include sons, Allen Blackwell and wife, Debbie, of Nacogdoches, and Ronald Blackwell and wife, Katie, of Las Vegas; daughter, Deidra McKee and husband, Lance, of Spring, and brothers, Virgil Blackwell and wife, Lois, of Madisonville, and Reuban Blackwell and wife, Joan, of Fort Worth. Joe is also survived by seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Frankie Almendarez, Tony Blackwell, Brandon Blackwell, Gerral Blackwell, Ricky Blackwell and Gary Baker.
