Jury indicts two on sexual assault charges


Two Madisonville residents arrested June 26 for allegedly assaulting an 8-year-old victim sexually were indicted Aug. 1 by a Madison County Grand Jury.

Felicia Broussard Mulkey, 33, and Joseph Demetrius Farris, 39, each were indicted on charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child, a first-degree felony, and possession of child pornography, a third-degree felony.

First-degree felonies are punishable by five years to life in prison and fines of up to $10,000. Third-degree felonies are punishable by two to 10 years in prison and fines of up to $10,000.

Police reports indicate that prior to the arrests, Texas Rangers were provided information from the Leon County Sheriff’s Office about a number of digital images of alleged sex acts featuring the suspects and the victim.

Following the investigation Farris and Mulkey were arrested, and reportedly told investigators they had performed sex acts with the victim, as well as took videos.

As of Monday, the two were being held at Madison County Jail on bonds of $250,000.
