The Madisonville Lady Mustangs JV basketball team concluded their season with a 7-1 record and a district championship.

The team finished 2-1 in their final three games of the season with victories over Rusk and Palestine and a close loss to Fairfield.

In the game against Rusk, Madisonville got off to a slow start but were able to bounce back with tremendous defense throughout and win the game 28-14. Farrah Moffett led the Lady Mustangs in scoring.

Madisonville will shine defensively once again against Palestine. They held a district opponent under 20 for the second straight game and came away with a 33-17 victory. Coach Tarsha Nealy described it as a great effort from all the ladies involved and Martasia Chambers led the team in scoring.

The one district loss of the year for the Lady Mustangs came by just one point. The team had some missed opportunities in the contest and would fall by a final score of 37-36. Cierra Davis was the leading scorer.

Despite the loss, Madisonville was still able to secure a district championship for the 2018-19 season.
