JONESBORO — The North Zulch Lady Bulldogs basketball team suffered another road loss to the Jonesboro Eagles on Friday.
The girls struggled from the start, and eventually fell 64-33.
Head coach Kimberly Branch promoted two freshman JV players, Grace Green and Dannicka Diserens, to varsity this week.
“The JV players were brought up because of their hard work,” Branch said.
North Zulch was missing a senior starter, Sally Osth. She is the Lady Bulldogs’ top post threat.
The leading scorer for the Lady Bulldogs was freshman Cheyanne Wallin, No. 12, with 11 points.
The North Zulch girls are on a three-game losing streak, and they are looking to turn the season around in district play.
“The future is looking good; we’re just struggling this year,” said Branch.
While many teams competed in a holiday tournament over the break, North Zulch simply closed out their non-District schedule with two stand-alone matchups. The games were spread out enough to avoid any rust, but also allowed the Lady Bulldogs to rest up for the most part with District play up next.
The Lady Bulldogs’ next game is at District rival Normangee on Jan. 5, and their first District contest at home is Jan. 9 against Iola High school.
