Multiple members of the Lady Mustangs soccer team were presented with district distinctions for their efforts this season.
Brinna Simms earned the district’s offensive MVP award while Kassandra Hernandez was named Co-Defensive MVP and Brianna Abad earned District Goalkeeper of the year. Cielo Torres and Samantha Vazquez were named first team all-district while Jeimy Martinez earned second team. Andy Hinojosa, Erika Lopez and Anna Jimenez received honorable mentions.
“It’s always a proud moment as a coach when your players are recognized by other coaches in your district,” said Madisonville women’s soccer coach Travis Rasbeary. “A few of these girls earned these awards without ever playing before. They should be very proud of themselves for beating out many talented and experienced players in this district.”
It’s against the district rules for a coach to vote for their own player, so the Madisonville recipients were selected only by their opponents.
