The Madisonville Lady Mustangs basketball team lost their Bi-District matchup to Carthage at Lufkin-Hudson Monday by a score of 54-43, eliminating them from the playoffs and concluding their season.

The Lady Mustangs were led in scoring by Daiona Johnson and Khyra Cooper with 12 points apiece and Jyah Burns with nine. The team got off to a slow start with just six points in the opening quarter and were never able to get back into the game.

An 18-point performance in the fourth was the team’s only quarter scoring more than 12 points in the 11-point defeat.

To conclude the regular season Feb. 11, the Lady Mustangs honored seniors Cooper, Burns and Daija Martin on the court with their families before the matchup against Fairfield at MHS.
