The Madisonville Lady Mustangs basketball team has won back-to-back road games over Crockett by a score of 60-5 and Lovelady by a score of 46-44 to improve to 3-1 to start their non-district schedule.

Lady Mustangs start year hot

The Madisonville Lady Mustangs basketball team has won back-to-back road games over Crockett by a score of 60-5 and Lovelady by a score of 46-44 to improve to 3-1 to start their non-district schedule.

Kristen Tolliver led the Lady Mustngs with 14 points in the runaway victory over Crockett last Tuesday. She was followed by Jerkayla Dickey with 11 and Khyra Cooper with nine. Cooper also led the team in rebounds by far with 14 boards.

Dickey recorded seven steals in the win to lead the team and was closely followed by Cooper with six and Tolliver with five.

The Lady Mustangs saw a steady barrage of points throughout the night before posting over 20 in the fourth quarter.

Madisonville also posted 20 points in the final quarter of a much more competitive matchup against Lovelady on Friday. The offensive spurt allowed the Lady Mustangs to pick up a two-point victory on the road despite just 26 total points in the first three quarters.

Daiona Johnson took control of the matchup and dropped a team-leading 26 points on Lovelady to pave the way to a win. She also recorded four steals and a pair of assists on her dominant night.

Dickey followed by Johnson’s performance with eight points of her own and Tyleyah Young led the team with nine rebounds.

The Lady Mustangs returned to MHS for their first home matchup of the season Tuesday against Concordia Lutheran. They are also scheduled to battle LaVega at home on Friday.
