Larry Renfrow, 73, of Needville, Texas, was born in Pasadena, Texas on December 29, 1946 and died on Thursday, August 20, 2020 in Sugar Land, Texas.

He attended Pasadena schools and graduated from Pasadena High School. While in high school he attended training and became a Certified Surgical Tech and worked in the emergency room at Pasadena General Hospital. He attended San Jacinto Junior College. Larry was drafted by the US Army and spent two years serving his country. One of the years he served as a surgical tech in a MASH Unit of the US Army Hospital in Seoul, Korea.

When he completed his service in 1969, he married Raylene Willingham, his lifelong church friend at South Main Baptist Church in Pasadena, TX.

During his working career, he owned two retail establishments, a Western Auto store in west Texas and a Sears store in Madisonville, Texas. He later worked for the US Post Office, serving as a Postmaster for many years. His Post Offices included Wellborn, Anderson-Shiro, Marquez, Hearne, and Franklin. He retired in 2012 after 33 years.

A large portion of Larry’s time was always devoted to supporting his church, the First Baptist Church in Madisonville, TX – focusing on many programs and projects. He served as deacon for many years. He also served as Director of Junior Age Children’s Sunday School and Director of Adult 1 Sunday School, head of the sanctuary sound booth, summer children’s program, and sang in the church choir for decades, never missing a Christmas pageant.

Larry’s favorite hobbies were hunting and fishing, which he did every chance he had. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with many friends, some friends as long ago as grade school. He was a member of the BASS club and enjoyed winning fishing contests and has mounted many prized bass to show for it. He enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren how to fish and instilled in them the love of the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife, Raylene Renfrow, daughter Rachelle Ferguson and son Ryan Renfrow and Ryan’s wife Stephanie Vanelli Renfrow. His grandchildren Zackery Ferguson, Zackery’s wife Caroline Duym Ferguson, Chaz Ferguson, Amelia Renfrow, and Lucy Renfrow.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2020, at 2 PM at the First Baptist Church in Madisonville.
