Larry Tryon

Larry Don Tryon was born Oct. 12, 1958, in Normangee, to Frankie (Smith) Tryon and Jim Tryon. He was the youngest of eight children. He excelled in school in the Leon and Centerville areas. He graduated from Centerville High School in 1977 and went on to graduate from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville in 1981 with a degree in social work and criminal justice with a minor in business.

Larry worked in the United Methodist Church District where he served at Hillary Chapel and Two Mile United Methodist Church under the leadership of Dr. Greenwood. If Larry could, he would say to all of us that knew and loved him, “My living has not been in vain because I worked when I could and sometimes when I wasn’t physically able to. But, as the word says, I must work when it is day for when night cometh, no man can work.”

On Nov. 3, 2018, Larry went home to be with the Lord. He leaves behind one son, Greg (Lois) Tryon, and one grandchild, Markel, all of Houston; three sisters, four brothers and a host of family and friends. He also leaves behind his special friend, Faye Murray, and former wife, Pamela Davis.

Homegoing celebration services for Larry will be held at noon, Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018, at Walters Funeral Home in Centerville. The Rev. Regina Greenwood will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Culton Cemetery in Leona. A wake will take place from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at the funeral home.
